If only there was some way...

I could just leave Nate in the tub and go about my normal pre-baby life, because this kid will sit in it for hours if you let him. He loves the tub, filthy grout and all. He'll sit and chew on his squeaky duck while splashing around and talking to himself for as long as you can stand to sit there and watch him. It's a great way to wear him out before bedtime in addition to getting the grime out of his neckfolds.

In the top photo, he is watching one of the cats bolt out of the room after being splashed with a tiny amount of water.

Nate likes his high chair.

Mealtime is fun (for him). He likes to hang out in his chair and nibble on his little mesh bag filled with frozen banana, or eat various cereals with applesauce or mango puree or whatever. Fruits are best, veggies are okay. I even made him some 'stew' out of whizzed up cannellini beans, carrots, peas, and a bit of broth. Nate doesnt seem to like stew that much but he eats it anyway. He doesnt seem to realize that he can refuse food yet.

Here's a few pictures of him from the other day after a particularly messy meal. Guess what he's doing in the last picture...

Long haired freaky people need not apply

Nate is starting to need his hair groomed with some regularity. On these humid days it gets kinda messy. Or maybe its just food residue in his hair? He DOES eat like a pig...witness him double fisting mango and a Zwieback.

Zoo!

On Saturday morning we took Nate to our local smallish inner city zoo in the hopes of him seeing some live animals other than our cats. I had a disconcerting feeling being there with Nate, and our stroller, and our diaper bag, etc. Chris and I are now officially one of THEM...parents with small child(ren) and a ton of gear doing stuff at a place that was populated with people JUST LIKE US. The zoo was a Stroller Hell (the 3rd or 4th ring, I believe) filled with 30-somethings sneaking peeks at each other's gear to compare it with theirs..."Wow, they have the Bugaboo. That stroller's, like, 700 bucks. Their Maclaren umbrella stroller is like ours except its pink with a cupholder" etc. Everybody was my age, everybody was toting some disinterested babies, and everyone seemed vaguely aware of their unflattering shorts and vanishing youth. Or maybe it was just me...

Anyways. Nate seemed to enjoy himself, and I'm pretty certain he saw some animals. The stinky flamingos held his attention for awhile, and so did the prairie dogs.

Here's Nate and daddy looking at the sheep, while I stayed outside the pen to watch over the stroller, and the diaper bag, and the camera bag, blah blah blah

Chris got some pretty shots inside the butterfly tent, too.

Scary Gram

We got new bunkbeds at the cottage, so Nate and Aunt Amanda tested the top bunk while Gram took the opportunity to freak Nate out from the next room.
