Terror Alert: Terror Alert Level

He's screaming in his crib RIGHT NOW.

Nate's been a little monster lately, regressing back to waking up two or three times during the night. This follows what was a relatively steady stream of sleeping through the night. Not fun!

Here's Nate playing with his boy dolly yesterday. Actually, it's mommy's boy dolly but Nate is allowed to play with it. He put that Red Sox sundae cup/hat on the the dolly all by himself.

Here we are after bathtime, which he still enjoys quite a bit.

Blanket Sleepers are totally cute.

Its getting cooler here in New England, and we live in an oil heated drafty old duplex. This means that soon we'll begin the old game of 'how cold does it have to be before we can turn the heat on? PRETTY DAMN COLD!' as taught to us by our Mainer and Minnesotan fathers. I'm concerned about Nate, because I can't get a read on what temperatures he finds most comfortable. I like a nice cold room to sleep in, but Chris can lay there comfortably in flopsweat July humidity without much trouble (while I contemplate checking into a hotel). Nate has no tolerance for any sort of blanket, and they say one shouldnt use blankets in the crib until baby's first first birthday anyway. A few times Ive plucked him out of bed after he's kicked off his blanket and his legs have been icy cold, so I figured it was time to get a few blanket sleepers for him to wear this Fall. Hopefully this will keep him warm enough without us needing to touch the thermostat until the cat's water dish ices over.

There's just something so heartbreakingly adorable about a fitted blanket sleeper. This one in the picture is green and Nate looks like a bean toddling around in it. I hope he likes wearing them since theyre toasty warm, but I can still remember how much I hated them, especially the 'feet'. To this day I can barely stand wearing socks and shoes and I think its due in large part to footed pajamas and correctional shoes I was forced to wear. Correctional shoes? Is that what therye called? Whatever shoes they forced pigeon toed girls to wear back in the seventies...turned me off shoes for the rest of my life, no doubt.

I wish Chris would get a blanket sleeper. He keeps threatening to get a red union suit but never follows through. Maybe this will be the year!

Daddy's Favorite Things

...are, in order:

1. The New Car
2. Nate
3. Red Sox
4. Allison

We got ourselves a Prius hybrid ve-hickle. Its used, and we waited a long time until the 04's started showing up for sale used. This one has barely 9k miles on it, and its loaded with crazy space age goodness. Even though we have the shortest commute of anyone we know (really, we should walk everyday), we still wanted the best car that used the least amount of gasoline. Since we cant all cram into a Honda Insight this was the next best thing. Hopefully, by the time we're done with this car, we'll have the option to get a car that doesnt use gas at all.

This picture nicely shows how long and slim Nate's getting.

Spaghetti Hilarity

I think all parents are required to take messy spaghetti baby pictures. Its in the instruction manual.

This picture I like. Here is Pixie, trying with all her might to make me let her out even though she has NEVER been outdoors. Notice the crying food-covered baby...the pile of trash by the door...Pixie, I SO understand.

Here is Nate in his new cage. Now that he is crawling with considerable speed I cant just go to the bathroom, or go pour some coffee, or look away anymore. This cage frees me up a bit. Of course, he hates it.
