Cake!

This week will mark Nate's first birthday, so when we visited Maine for Thanksgiving we decided to kill a few birds with one stone and celebrate Thanksgiving, Nate's birthday and Aunt Amanda's 19th birthday all at once. For the occasion I made some Cookie Monster cupcakes which Nate tackled with with gusto. He has never had a full serving of cake or other junk food sweets before even though once last Summer Gram really wanted to give him an ice cream sandwich (which I did not allow). Nate started out neatly enough but he quickly accelerated to double fisted mouth squishing.

Later, after about 42 of Amanda's closest friends home from college packed into the livingroom, Nate opened some birthday presents from Gram. He seemed a little confused by it all, but did get pretty happy when he opened a box containing a gargantuan Elmo.

Aunt Amanda got him a little Colby sweatshirt.

Nate got even more presents on Thanksgiving when his GREAT grandparents visited. What a lucky lil' stinker! Check out the huge lego...the huge legos and the huge Elmo make regular sized people feel little.

What a nice Thanksgiving!

Walkin'

We brought Nate to our office to try to get some nice pictures in the studio. We're saving the good stuff for a special occasion but here is an outtake just to show you how he's getting around. He walks about as gracefully as a drunken robot but he gets a little better every day.

Here's another bonus outtake. When Nate wasn't walking, crawling, squirming or being a general pain in the bum during picture day he expressed his displeasure with our constant demands that he sit still and smile. I can't believe people do this for a living.

Nate's new hat

My old pal Kate knit Nate this cool new hat just in time for Winter. He didnt even try to take it off, probably because he knew how rad he looks in it.

Be sure to vote Tuesday, preferably a straight D ticket, especially if you are reading this from FL, OH, ME, VA, TN, NH (you know who you are!!). Do it so that someday my dad can once again enjoy the Hall of Presidents Show at Disneyworld without feeling obligated to loudly heckle the GW Bush robot. Any step in a new direction, even during a midterm election, is good for our collective blood pressure.
