Where did the time go?
Long time, no post. Long month short: Nate had a fun Christmas visiting extended family, I've been feeling like a manatee, and Chris has been doing the bulk of the childrearing and housework while I moan and complain about all my aches and pains. I hope that after Baby Girl arrives I will feel more inclined to do things that require bodily movement.
Here is Nate on Christmas morning at my parent's house, taking in the beauty of his bootleg train table for the first time. His mom and dad made it! Sure it may not be a perfect rectangle, and that shade of green is pretty awful, but he likes it A LOT. He is a Thomas the Train superfan.

Here he is chillaxin' after some serious train tabling, and later doing his strange Photo Smile with Gram and Grampy. Grampy wonders if a Civil War wall calendar is too macabre for office decor.

more weird smile, doesn't look like him at all:

He usually looks like this:

Sadly, we have had loads of snow in the last month. I miss the balmy 70 degree days of January '07. Global warming is letting me down. Here is Nate in the driveway during one of our snowstorms last month.

We also drove to VA to see Grandma and Grandpa between Christmas and New Year's. Nate was a very good boy on the long drive, thanks in no small part to the magic of the portable dvd player. He had a lot of fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Jean and Uncle Claw, and his cousins. He also got to eat a lot of real meat and go to a Children's Museum. Too much fun!

Real meat? You better hope that don't "clog the pipes" if ya know what I mean! (;
Love the train set, by the way. It wouldn't have been half as cool if you guys hadn't done it yourself. Sentimental value all around.

Your carpentry skills and painting expertise look pretty fab to me; No wonder he loves it!!
My brothers grew up with Brio, which I think was the Thomas stuff minus the faces. My beau really likes Lionel trains--which might be the next step for Nate when he is a bit older.
